Chalageri Toll Plaza Rates
The following toll charges are applicable from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027.
| Vehicle category | Single journey | Return journey | Monthly pass |
| Car, jeep or van | ₹150 | ₹225 | ₹5,010 |
| Light commercial vehicle or minibus | ₹245 | ₹365 | ₹8,095 |
| Bus or two-axle truck | ₹510 | ₹765 | ₹16,955 |

| Vehicle with seven or more axles | ₹970 | ₹1,455 | ₹32,370 |
A car, jeep or van pays ₹150 for one crossing. An eligible outward and return journey costs ₹225 when both crossings are completed within the permitted 24-hour period.
The standard monthly pass for a car, jeep or van costs ₹5,010. This is different from the concessional local monthly pass available to qualifying residents living near the plaza.
Single and Return-Journey Charges Explained
The ₹150 car rate applies to one crossing through Chalageri Toll Plaza.
The ₹225 return rate covers one eligible outward and return journey through the same plaza. It does not mean that ₹225 is charged separately in each direction.
For example, a car travelling from Ranebennur towards Davanagere and returning through Chalageri Toll Plaza within 24 hours may pay ₹225 in total instead of two separate ₹150 charges.
The toll system may deduct ₹150 during the first crossing and the remaining ₹75 during the return crossing. The same active FASTag should be used for both journeys.
If the vehicle returns after the permitted time, the second crossing may be treated as another single journey and charged at ₹150.
Drivers should keep both FASTag transaction messages until the return journey is complete.
Local Commercial Vehicle Rates
Reduced rates may apply to qualifying commercial vehicles registered in the district where Chalageri Toll Plaza is situated.
| Vehicle category | Local commercial rate |
| Car, jeep or van used commercially | ₹75 |
| Light commercial vehicle or minibus | ₹120 |
| Bus or two-axle truck | ₹255 |
| Commercial vehicle with up to three axles | ₹275 |
| Four-to-six-axle vehicle | ₹400 |
| Heavy construction or earth-moving equipment | ₹400 |
| Vehicle with seven or more axles | ₹485 |
A Haveri district registration number may not be sufficient by itself. The vehicle owner may be required to submit:
- Vehicle registration certificate
- Valid commercial permit
- Residential or business-address proof
- Active FASTag linked to the vehicle
- Proof of regular local operation
- Application approved by the toll administration
The reduced amount should not be expected to activate automatically. Vehicle owners should complete the required verification before relying on the local-commercial rate.
Local Resident Monthly Pass
An eligible person living within 20 kilometres of Chalageri Toll Plaza may apply for a concessional monthly pass for a privately owned, non-commercial car, jeep or van.
The local monthly-pass charge for the 2026–27 financial year is: ₹360 per month
Applicants may be asked to provide:
- Vehicle registration certificate
- Aadhaar card or another identity document
- Current residential-address proof
- Active FASTag linked to the vehicle
- Registered mobile number
- Recent photograph
- Completed local-pass application
The toll administration must verify that the applicant lives within the permitted 20-kilometre distance.
The concession is linked to one resident, vehicle and FASTag. Merely owning a vehicle registered in Haveri district does not automatically activate the local pass.

Chalageri and Bankapur Toll Plazas Are Different
Chalageri Toll Plaza and Bankapur Toll Plaza are separate toll collection points on NH 48.
Chalageri is located near Ranebennur in Haveri district. Bankapur Toll Plaza is situated farther north near Shiggaon.
A vehicle travelling between Davanagere and Hubballi may cross both plazas, depending on its exact entry point and destination.
Separate FASTag deductions from Chalageri and Bankapur are not automatically duplicate charges. Each plaza covers a different highway project section.
Drivers should compare the plaza name, transaction time and amount before raising a complaint.
FASTag and Payment Information
FASTag is the standard payment method at Chalageri Toll Plaza. Before travelling, drivers should ensure that the tag:
- Is active and has sufficient balance
- Is correctly attached to the windscreen
- Is linked to the correct vehicle registration number
- Shows the proper vehicle category
- Has completed the required KYC
- Is not damaged, suspended or blacklisted
Maintain sufficient distance from the vehicle ahead while entering the toll lane. Driving too close may prevent the scanner from identifying each FASTag separately.
The transaction message should show Chalageri Toll Plaza, the date, time and amount deducted.
An incorrect deduction can be reported through the FASTag-issuing bank, RajmargYatra or National Highway helpline 1033.
FASTag Annual Pass
The NHAI FASTag Annual Pass costs ₹3,075 for the 2026–27 financial year. It is available for eligible privately registered, non-commercial cars, jeeps and vans.
The pass remains valid for one year from activation or 200 eligible fee-plaza crossings, whichever occurs first.
Each one-way passage through Chalageri Toll Plaza normally counts as one crossing. Passing through the plaza and later returning generally counts as two crossings.
Before purchasing or relying on the pass, drivers should confirm that:
- Chalageri Fee Plaza appears in the eligible-plaza list
- The vehicle is privately registered and non-commercial
- The registered category is car, jeep or van
- The FASTag is linked to the correct vehicle number
- The tag is active and KYC-compliant
The Annual Pass is activated on the existing FASTag and cannot be transferred to another vehicle.
Highway Facilities and Emergency Contacts
The latest public plaza listing does not show a dedicated rest area, truck lay-by or static weighbridge directly at Chalageri Toll Plaza.
Drivers should use authorised fuel stations, restaurants and parking areas along NH 48 rather than stopping near the toll lanes or on the highway shoulder.

Traffic and Safety Tips
Chalageri Toll Plaza may experience increased traffic during:
- Morning and evening travel hours
- Friday and Sunday travel periods
- Public holidays and long weekends
- Festival travel
- Heavy commercial-vehicle movement
- Road widening or maintenance work
- Monsoon rainfall
Choose the correct toll lane early and avoid sudden lane changes near the booths.
Maintain additional distance from buses, trucks, tankers and multi-axle vehicles. NH 48 carries substantial freight traffic between Bengaluru, Hubballi, Belagavi and Pune.
During heavy rain, reduce speed and allow more braking distance. Local vehicles, motorcycles and agricultural traffic may enter through village or service-road connections around Chalageri.
Drivers travelling long distances should use authorised rest facilities instead of stopping on the active highway shoulder.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: Will a Davanagere-to-Ranebennur journey cross Chalageri Toll Plaza?
A: Normally, yes. Vehicles following NH 48 from Davanagere through Harihar towards Ranebennur generally cross the plaza near Chalageri.
Q2: Why were both Chalageri and Bankapur tolls deducted?
A: They are separate toll plazas covering different sections of NH 48. A longer journey between Davanagere and Hubballi may legitimately generate deductions at both locations.
Q3: How is the ₹225 car return rate normally deducted?
A: The system may deduct ₹150 during the first crossing and the remaining ₹75 during the return crossing, provided the second journey is completed within 24 hours using the same FASTag.
Q4: How can an incorrect Chalageri FASTag deduction be challenged?
A: Save the transaction message and note the plaza name, time, amount and vehicle number. Report the transaction through the FASTag-issuing bank, RajmargYatra or helpline 1033. Include both transaction records when disputing a return-journey charge.
