Sasthan Toll Plaza Rates
The following toll charges are applicable from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027.
| Vehicle category | Single journey | Return journey | Monthly pass |
| Car, jeep or van | ₹65 | ₹95 | ₹2,105 |
| Light commercial vehicle or minibus | ₹100 | ₹155 | ₹3,400 |
| Bus or two-axle truck | ₹215 | ₹320 | ₹7,120 |

| Heavy construction or earth-moving equipment | ₹335 | ₹505 | ₹11,165 |
| Vehicle with seven or more axles | ₹410 | ₹610 | ₹13,595 |
A car, jeep or van pays ₹65 for one crossing. An eligible outward and return journey costs ₹95 when both crossings are completed within the permitted 24-hour period.
The standard monthly pass for a car, jeep or van costs ₹2,105. It is intended for frequent users and is different from the concessional monthly pass available to qualifying residents living close to the plaza.
Single and Return-Journey Charges Explained
The ₹65 car rate applies to one crossing through Sasthan Toll Plaza.
The ₹95 return rate covers an eligible outward and return journey through the same plaza. It does not mean that ₹95 is charged separately in both directions.
For example, a car travelling from Udupi towards Kundapura and returning through Sasthan Toll Plaza within 24 hours may pay ₹95 in total instead of two separate ₹65 charges.
The toll system may deduct ₹65 during the first crossing and the remaining ₹30 during the return crossing. The same active FASTag should be used for both journeys.
If the vehicle returns after the permitted validity period, the second crossing may be treated as another single journey and charged at ₹65.
Drivers should retain both FASTag transaction messages until the return journey has been completed.
Local Resident Monthly Pass
An eligible person living within 20 kilometres of Sasthan Toll Plaza may apply for a concessional monthly pass for a privately owned, non-commercial car, jeep or van.
The local monthly-pass charge for the 2026–27 financial year is: ₹360 per month
Applicants may be required to provide:
- Vehicle registration certificate
- Aadhaar card or another identity document
- Current residential-address proof
- Active FASTag linked to the vehicle
- Registered mobile number
- Recent photograph
- Completed local-pass application
The toll administration must verify that the applicant lives within the permitted 20-kilometre distance.
The concession is linked to a specific resident, vehicle and FASTag. Merely owning a vehicle registered in Udupi district does not automatically activate the pass.
Local Commercial Vehicle Concession
The current published tariff does not list a separate reduced rate for local commercial vehicles at Sasthan Toll Plaza.
Commercial vehicle owners should not assume that a Udupi district registration number will automatically result in a lower FASTag deduction.
Any concession may depend on:
- Vehicle category
- Commercial permit
- Registered business address
- Regular operating route
- FASTag details
- Conditions of the toll agreement
- Approval from the toll administration
Taxi, bus and goods-vehicle operators seeking a concession should contact the toll control room before applying.

Sasthan and Hejamadi Toll Plazas Are Different
Sasthan Toll Plaza and Hejamadi Toll Plaza are separate toll collection points on NH 66.
Sasthan Toll Plaza is located north of Udupi near Gundmi and Kota. Hejamadi Toll Plaza is located south of Udupi, closer to Padubidri and Mulki.
A vehicle travelling between Mangaluru and Kundapura may cross both plazas.
Separate FASTag deductions from Sasthan and Hejamadi are therefore not automatically duplicate transactions. Each plaza covers a different section of the coastal highway project.
Drivers checking an unexpected deduction should compare:
- Toll-plaza name
- Plaza code
- Transaction date and time
- Direction of travel
- Amount deducted
The plaza code for Sasthan Toll Plaza is 257001.
FASTag and Payment Information
FASTag is the standard payment method at Sasthan Toll Plaza. Before travelling, drivers should ensure that the tag:
- Is active and has sufficient balance
- Is correctly fixed to the windscreen
- Is linked to the correct vehicle registration number
- Shows the correct vehicle category
- Has completed the required KYC
- Is not damaged, suspended or blacklisted
Maintain sufficient distance from the vehicle ahead while entering the toll lane. Driving too close may prevent the scanner from identifying each FASTag separately.
The transaction message may display Gundmi, Sasthan, Sasthana or plaza code 257001.
An incorrect deduction can be reported through the FASTag-issuing bank, RajmargYatra or National Highway helpline 1033.
FASTag Annual Pass
Eligible privately registered, non-commercial cars, jeeps and vans may use the NHAI FASTag Annual Pass at approved National Highway and National Expressway fee plazas.
The Annual Pass costs ₹3,075 for the 2026–27 financial year. It remains valid for one year from activation or 200 eligible fee-plaza crossings, whichever occurs first.
Each one-way passage through an open toll plaza normally counts as one crossing. Passing through Sasthan and later returning generally counts as two crossings.
Before purchasing or relying on the pass, drivers should confirm that:
- Sasthan or Gundmi Fee Plaza appears in the eligible-plaza list
- The vehicle is privately registered and non-commercial
- The vehicle category is car, jeep or van
- The FASTag is linked to the correct registration number
- The FASTag is active and KYC-compliant
The Annual Pass is activated on the vehicle’s existing FASTag and cannot be transferred to another vehicle.
Highway Facilities and Emergency Contacts
One weighbridge is listed at Sasthan Toll Plaza. A dedicated public rest area or truck lay-by is not shown in the current plaza information.
Drivers should use authorised fuel stations, restaurants and parking facilities along NH 66 rather than stopping near the toll lanes or on the highway shoulder.

Traffic and Safety Tips
Sasthan Toll Plaza may experience increased traffic during:
- Friday and Sunday travel periods

- Peak coastal-tourism seasons
- Heavy commercial-vehicle movement
- Monsoon rainfall
- Road repairs or diversions
Choose the correct toll lane early and avoid sudden lane changes near the booths.
NH 66 around Udupi, Brahmavar, Kota and Kundapura carries local buses, motorcycles, pedestrians and vehicles entering from service roads. Drivers should remain alert even after leaving the toll-plaza area.
During the monsoon, reduce speed and allow additional braking distance. Heavy rainfall can reduce visibility and cause water accumulation on parts of the coastal highway.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: Why does my FASTag message show Gundmi instead of Sasthan?
A: Gundmi is the official location name used in the toll-plaza listing. Gundmi Toll Plaza and Sasthan Toll Plaza normally refer to the same facility with plaza code 257001.
Q2: Will a Mangaluru-to-Kundapura journey cross two toll plazas?
A: Normally, yes. Vehicles using NH 66 may cross Hejamadi Toll Plaza south of Udupi and Sasthan Toll Plaza north of Udupi. They cover different highway sections.
Q3: How is the ₹95 car return rate usually deducted?
A: The system may deduct ₹65 during the first crossing and the remaining ₹30 during the return crossing, provided it is completed within 24 hours using the same FASTag.
Q4: What should a driver do if the wrong toll amount is deducted?
A: Save the FASTag message and note the plaza name, time, amount and vehicle number. Report the transaction through the issuing bank, RajmargYatra or helpline 1033. Include both transactions when disputing a return-journey charge.
