Ladhowal Toll Plaza Rates

The following revised rates became effective from the night of July 14–15, 2026.

Vehicle category Single journey Return journey within 24 hours
Car, jeep or van ₹235 ₹350
Light commercial vehicle, light goods vehicle or minibus ₹380 ₹570
Bus or two-axle truck ₹795 ₹1,190
Commercial vehicle with three axles ₹865 ₹1,300
Four-to-six-axle vehicle ₹1,245 ₹1,865
Heavy construction or earth-moving equipment ₹1,245 ₹1,865
Vehicle with seven or more axles ₹1,515 ₹2,270

A car, jeep or van pays ₹235 for one crossing. An eligible outward and return journey costs ₹350 when the second crossing is completed within 24 hours using the same FASTag.

The July 2026 revision was the second increase during the financial year. This is why some toll calculators may still display the April 2026 car rate of ₹225 single and ₹340 return.

Monthly Pass Charges

The current standard pass for a car, jeep or van is: ₹7,815 for 50 single journeys

Each passage through the toll plaza counts as one journey. Therefore, travelling through Ladhowal and returning through it normally consumes two journeys from the pass.

The July revision’s complete monthly-pass table for every commercial category is not consistently reproduced in publicly accessible listings. Commercial operators should confirm the applicable monthly amount from the toll office before purchasing a pass.

The ₹7,815 standard pass should not be confused with:

  • The ₹360 local-resident monthly pass
  • The ₹3,075 NHAI FASTag Annual Pass
  • Any commercial concession approved for locally registered vehicles

Single and Return-Journey Charges Explained

The ₹235 car rate applies to one passage through Ladhowal Toll Plaza.

The ₹350 return rate covers one outward crossing and one eligible return crossing. It does not mean that ₹350 is charged in each direction.

A typical FASTag deduction may appear as:

  • First crossing: ₹235
  • Return crossing within 24 hours: ₹115
  • Total charge for both crossings: ₹350

The same active FASTag must be used for both journeys.

When the vehicle returns after the 24-hour validity period, the second passage may be treated as another single journey and charged ₹235.

Drivers should retain both transaction messages until the return journey is completed.

Local Resident Monthly Pass

Owners of privately registered, non-commercial vehicles who live within 20 kilometres of Ladhowal Toll Plaza may apply for a concessional local monthly pass.

The 2026–27 local-pass charge is: ₹360 per month

Applicants may be required to provide:

  • Vehicle registration certificate
  • Aadhaar card or another identity document
  • Current residential-address proof
  • Active FASTag linked to the vehicle
  • Registered mobile number
  • Recent photograph
  • Completed local-pass application

The toll administration must verify that the residence is within the prescribed 20-kilometre distance.

The concession is linked to a particular resident, vehicle and FASTag. Merely owning a PB-10 registered vehicle does not automatically activate the pass.

Local Commercial Vehicle Concession

Eligible commercial vehicles registered within Ludhiana district may qualify for a reduced toll.

The confirmed concessional rate for a locally registered commercial car, jeep or van is: ₹115 per crossing

Different reduced rates apply to larger commercial vehicles. As the July 2026 public tariff reports do not provide a complete category-wise local-commercial table, bus, truck and goods-vehicle operators should confirm the amount at the toll office.

The owner may be required to submit:

  • Vehicle registration certificate
  • Valid commercial permit
  • Registered business or residential-address proof
  • Active FASTag linked to the vehicle
  • Proof of regular local operation
  • Completed application
  • Approval from the toll administration

A Ludhiana registration number alone may not be sufficient without document verification.

Address and Exact Location

The commonly used address is: Ladhowal Toll Plaza, Grand Trunk Road, NH 44, Talwandi Kalan, near Ladhowal, Ludhiana District, Punjab 141008.

Directions to Ladhowal Toll Plaza

1. From Ludhiana City

Travel north towards Jalandhar using NH 44 or the appropriate city connection to Grand Trunk Road.

Continue beyond the northern Ludhiana localities towards Ladhowal and Phillaur. Follow the toll-lane signs near Talwandi Kalan.

The need to cross the plaza depends on the starting point and the destination north of Ludhiana.

2. From Phillaur

Travel south on NH 44 towards Ladhowal and Ludhiana.

Continue across the Sutlej-side corridor on the Ludhiana-bound carriageway. The toll plaza is reached before entering the main Ludhiana urban area.

3. From Jalandhar

Travel south on NH 44 through Phagwara, Goraya and Phillaur towards Ludhiana.

Continue on the Delhi-bound carriageway. Ladhowal Toll Plaza is reached after the Phillaur side of the route.

4. From Phagwara

Join NH 44 towards Goraya, Phillaur and Ludhiana.

Continue south on the main highway and follow the toll signs while approaching Ladhowal.

5. From Ambala

Travel north on NH 44 through Rajpura, Sirhind, Khanna and Ludhiana.

Continue towards Jalandhar after crossing the Ludhiana urban area. The complete Ambala–Ladhowal journey involves other toll plazas, so the ₹235 charge is only one part of the total route toll.

6. From Delhi

Travel north on NH 44 through Sonipat, Panipat, Karnal, Ambala and Ludhiana.

Continue towards Phillaur and Jalandhar. The Delhi–Ladhowal route crosses several toll plazas, and Ladhowal’s charge should not be treated as the total toll for the entire journey.

7. From Chandigarh

Travel towards Ludhiana through the most suitable route, which may use Kharar, Morinda and Samrala or the Chandigarh–Ambala corridor.

After reaching Ludhiana, join NH 44 towards Jalandhar to reach the main Ladhowal Toll Plaza.

Main Ladhowal Plaza and Ladhowal Bypass Plaza Are Different

The main Ladhowal Toll Plaza and the Ladhowal Bypass Toll Plaza are separate toll points.

The main plaza is located at Km 328.050 on NH 44 and charges ₹235 for a car’s single journey under the July 2026 tariff.

The bypass plaza is associated with the Ludhiana bypass connection and has its own lower tariff structure.

A vehicle using the bypass and then continuing through the main Panipat–Jalandhar section may receive two separate FASTag deductions. These are not automatically duplicate charges because the toll points cover different road sections.

Drivers should compare the following before disputing a transaction:

  • Exact plaza name
  • Amount deducted
  • Transaction time
  • Direction of travel
  • Route followed

FASTag and Payment Information

FASTag is mandatory for normal electronic toll payment at Ladhowal Toll Plaza.

Before travelling, ensure that the FASTag:

  • Is active and has sufficient balance
  • Is properly attached to the windscreen
  • Is linked to the correct registration number
  • Shows the proper vehicle category
  • Has completed the required verification
  • Is not damaged, suspended or blacklisted

Maintain enough distance from the vehicle ahead while entering the toll lane. This allows the scanner to identify each FASTag correctly.

The transaction message may display Ladhowal, Ladowal or plaza code 154003.

An incorrect deduction can be reported through the issuing bank, RajmargYatra or National Highway helpline 1033.

FASTag Annual Pass

The NHAI FASTag Annual Pass costs ₹3,075 for the 2026–27 financial year.

It is available for eligible privately registered, non-commercial cars, jeeps and vans. The pass remains valid for one year from activation or 200 eligible toll-plaza crossings, whichever occurs first.

Each passage through Ladhowal normally counts as one crossing. Travelling through the plaza and returning through it generally counts as two crossings.

Before purchasing the pass, ensure that:

  • The vehicle is privately registered and non-commercial
  • Its category is car, jeep or van
  • The FASTag is active and linked to the full registration number
  • The tag is properly fixed to the vehicle
  • Ladhowal appears in the eligible-plaza list

For an eligible private car owner, the ₹3,075 Annual Pass may be more economical than the ₹7,815 standard 50-journey pass, depending on travel patterns and pass rules.

Traffic and Safety Tips

Ladhowal Toll Plaza may experience increased traffic during:

  • Morning and evening peak periods
  • Friday and Sunday travel
  • Public holidays and long weekends
  • Festival journeys
  • Heavy interstate bus movement
  • Commercial and freight traffic
  • Farmer protests
  • Foggy winter mornings
  • Road maintenance or diversions

Choose the correct lane early and avoid sudden lane changes near the booths.

Maintain additional distance from buses, trucks and trailers. The Ludhiana–Phillaur corridor carries heavy industrial and interstate traffic.

Winter fog can cause dangerously low visibility. Reduce speed, use appropriate lights and avoid stopping in an active lane.

Temporary protests may occasionally make the plaza toll-free or disrupt traffic for a limited period. Such an event does not mean that toll collection has permanently ended.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Why do some websites show ₹225 instead of ₹235 for a car?

A: ₹225 was the rate introduced in April 2026. A second revision in July 2026 increased the single car toll to ₹235 and the return rate to ₹350.

Q2: Will a Ludhiana-to-Jalandhar journey cross Ladhowal Toll Plaza?

A: Normally, yes. Vehicles using NH 44 from Ludhiana through Phillaur, Goraya and Phagwara towards Jalandhar generally cross the main Ladhowal Toll Plaza.

Q3: Why were two Ladhowal toll transactions deducted?

A: One deduction may be from the Ladhowal Bypass Toll Plaza and the other from the main NH 44 plaza. Check the amounts, transaction times and exact route before treating them as duplicates.

Q4: How can an incorrect Ladhowal FASTag deduction be challenged?

A: Save the FASTag message and note the plaza name, amount, time and vehicle number. Report it through the FASTag-issuing bank, RajmargYatra or helpline 1033. Include both transaction records when disputing a return-journey charge.
