Sengurichi Toll Plaza Rates
The following toll charges are applicable from September 1, 2025, to August 31, 2026.
| Vehicle category | Single journey | Return journey | Monthly pass |
| Car, jeep or van | ₹70 | ₹100 | ₹2,040 |
| Light commercial vehicle or minibus | ₹120 | ₹180 | ₹3,570 |
| Bus or two-axle truck | ₹240 | ₹355 | ₹7,140 |
| Commercial vehicle with up to three axles | ₹380 | ₹575 | ₹11,475 |
| Four-to-six-axle vehicle | ₹380 | ₹575 | ₹11,475 |
| Heavy construction or earth-moving equipment | ₹380 | ₹575 | ₹11,475 |
| Vehicle with seven or more axles | ₹380 | ₹575 | ₹11,475 |
A car, jeep or van pays ₹70 for one crossing. An eligible outward and return journey costs ₹100 when both crossings are completed within the permitted 24-hour period.
The standard monthly pass for a car, jeep or van costs ₹2,040. This is different from the special local monthly passes available to eligible residents living near the toll plaza.
The tariff is scheduled for revision after August 31, 2026. Drivers travelling on or after September 1, 2026, should check the revised amount through the toll control room or verify the FASTag deduction.
Single and Return-Journey Charges Explained
The ₹70 car rate applies to one crossing through Sengurichi Toll Plaza.
The ₹100 return rate covers an eligible outward and return journey through the same plaza. It does not mean that ₹100 is charged in each direction.
For example, a car travelling from Ulundurpet towards Perambalur and returning through Sengurichi Toll Plaza within 24 hours may pay ₹100 in total instead of two separate ₹70 charges.
The toll system may deduct ₹70 during the first crossing and the remaining ₹30 during the return crossing. The same active FASTag should be used for both journeys.
A vehicle returning after the permitted period may be charged another ₹70 single-journey toll. Drivers should retain both FASTag transaction messages until the return journey is complete.
Local Resident Monthly Pass
Special monthly passes are listed for qualifying residents living within 20 kilometres of Sengurichi Toll Plaza.
| Distance of residence from plaza | Local monthly-pass charge |
| Within 10 kilometres | ₹150 |
| More than 10 km and within 20 kilometres | ₹300 |
These local passes are intended for eligible nearby residents and are different from the standard ₹2,040 monthly pass for a car, jeep or van.
Applicants may be required to provide:
- Vehicle registration certificate
- Aadhaar card or another identity document
- Current residential-address proof
- Active FASTag linked to the vehicle
- Registered mobile number
- Recent photograph
- Completed local-pass application
The toll administration must verify the applicant’s residential distance. The concession is normally linked to one person, vehicle and FASTag.
Owning a vehicle registered in Kallakurichi district does not automatically qualify the owner for a local pass.
Local Commercial Vehicle Concession
The currently published tariff does not show a separate reduced toll table for commercial vehicles registered in Kallakurichi district.
Commercial vehicle owners should not assume that a local registration number will automatically produce a discounted deduction.
Any commercial concession may depend on:
- Vehicle registration district
- Commercial permit
- Regular operating area
- Vehicle category
- FASTag details
- Documents accepted by the toll administration
Owners seeking a concession should contact the toll office before applying.

Continue on NH 38 beyond Villupuram towards Ulundurpet. Follow the signs for Tiruchirappalli, Perambalur and Sengurichi Toll Plaza.
The journey from Chennai includes other toll plazas, so Sengurichi’s ₹70 car charge is not the complete toll cost between Chennai and Ulundurpet.

Continue beyond the Ulundurpet-side highway junctions. Remain on the main Tiruchirappalli-bound carriageway while approaching Sengurichi.
3. From Ulundurpet

Continue on the Chennai-bound carriageway. Follow the toll-lane signs when approaching Sengurichi.
5. From Tiruchirappalli
Travel north on NH 38 towards Siruganur, Perambalur and Ulundurpet.
The complete Tiruchirappalli–Sengurichi journey may involve another toll plaza. The ₹70 Sengurichi car charge should not be treated as the total toll for the whole route.

Use the appropriate highway route towards Kallakurichi and Ulundurpet.
Join NH 38 at or near Ulundurpet when travelling towards Perambalur and Tiruchirappalli. The route may vary according to the starting location and current road conditions.
Sengurichi and Thirumandurai Toll Plazas Are Different
Sengurichi Toll Plaza and Thirumandurai Toll Plaza are separate toll collection points on the Chennai–Tiruchirappalli corridor.
Sengurichi is located near Ulundurpet in Kallakurichi district. Thirumandurai Toll Plaza is situated farther south in Perambalur district.
A vehicle travelling between Chennai and Tiruchirappalli may cross both plazas, along with other toll facilities depending on the precise route.
Separate FASTag deductions from Sengurichi and Thirumandurai are therefore not automatically duplicate charges. Each plaza collects toll for a different highway section.
FASTag and Payment Information
FASTag is the standard toll-payment method at Sengurichi Toll Plaza. Before travelling, drivers should ensure that the tag:
- Is active and has sufficient balance
- Is correctly attached to the windscreen
- Is linked to the correct registration number
- Shows the correct vehicle category
- Has completed the required verification
- Is not damaged, suspended or blacklisted
Maintain enough distance from the vehicle ahead while entering the toll lane. Driving too close may prevent the scanner from reading each FASTag separately.
Check the transaction message after crossing. It should show Sengurichi Toll Plaza, the transaction date, time and amount deducted.
An incorrect deduction can be reported through the FASTag-issuing bank, RajmargYatra or National Highway helpline 1033.
FASTag Annual Pass
The NHAI FASTag Annual Pass costs ₹3,075 for the 2026–27 financial year. It is available for eligible privately registered, non-commercial cars, jeeps and vans.
The pass remains valid for one year from activation or 200 eligible toll-plaza crossings, whichever is completed first.
Each one-way passage through an open toll plaza normally counts as one crossing. Passing through Sengurichi and later returning generally counts as two crossings.
Before purchasing or relying on the pass, drivers should confirm that:
- Sengurichi Fee Plaza appears in the eligible-plaza list
- The vehicle is privately registered and non-commercial
- The registered vehicle category is car, jeep or van
- The FASTag is linked to the correct registration number
- The FASTag is active and KYC-compliant
The pass is activated on the existing FASTag and cannot be transferred to another vehicle.
Highway Facilities and Emergency Contacts
Rest areas are listed near Km 216.000 and Km 224.350 on the associated highway section. A truck lay-by is available near Km 209.600, while static weighbridges are listed on both sides of the road.

Traffic and Safety Tips
Sengurichi Toll Plaza may experience increased traffic during:
- Friday and Sunday travel periods
- Public holidays and long weekends
- Pongal, Deepavali and other festival seasons
- School and college holidays
- Peak Chennai–Tiruchirappalli bus travel
- Heavy commercial-vehicle movement
- Road repairs or traffic diversions
Choose the correct toll lane early and avoid sudden lane changes near the booths. Maintain additional distance from buses, trucks and multi-axle vehicles.
During monsoon rain, reduce speed and allow more braking distance. Local vehicles, motorcycles and buses may enter from service roads and village junctions near Ulundurpet and Sengurichi.
Drivers travelling long distances should use authorised restaurants, fuel stations, rest areas and truck lay-bys rather than stopping on the highway shoulder.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: Why does a FASTag message or old road sign show NH 45?
A: NH 45 was the former number of the Chennai–Tiruchirappalli highway. The Sengurichi section is now generally identified as NH 38.
Q2: How is the ₹100 car return toll deducted?
A: The system may deduct ₹70 during the first crossing and the remaining ₹30 during the return crossing, provided the return occurs within the permitted 24-hour period using the same FASTag.
Q3: Will a Chennai-to-Tiruchirappalli journey cross Sengurichi Toll Plaza?
A: Normally, yes. Vehicles following NH 38 through Villupuram, Ulundurpet and Perambalur generally cross Sengurichi, along with other toll plazas on the route.
Q4: Why were both Sengurichi and Thirumandurai tolls deducted?
A: They are separate toll plazas covering different sections of NH 38. A journey between Chennai and Tiruchirappalli may legitimately generate deductions at both locations.
