Vashi Toll Plaza is a major road entry point between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. It is located on the Sion–Panvel Highway near Vashi Creek Bridge and serves vehicles travelling between Mumbai, Vashi, Sanpada, Nerul, Belapur, Panvel and the Mumbai–Pune corridor.
The plaza is one of Mumbai’s five entry-point toll facilities. A major change took effect on October 14, 2024, when Maharashtra exempted light motor vehicles, school buses and Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation buses from toll at Vashi and the other four entry points. Vashi Toll Plaza Rates
The tariff introduced on October 1, 2023, remains the underlying rate schedule through September 30, 2026. However, the later government waiver means eligible light vehicles currently pay nothing.

The ₹45, ₹75, ₹150 and ₹190 tariff categories were introduced from October 2023. The subsequent cabinet decision removed the payable toll for light vehicles, school buses and state transport buses but did not abolish charges for ordinary trucks and heavy commercial vehicles.
Commercial operators should check the vehicle category shown in the registration certificate and toll system. The exemption depends on vehicle classification rather than merely on the vehicle’s physical size.
Toll Waiver for Cars and Light Vehicles
Private cars, jeeps, vans, SUVs and other vehicles recognised under the eligible light motor vehicle category can cross Vashi Toll Plaza without paying the earlier ₹45 toll. The waiver applies at Vashi, Airoli, Dahisar and the two Mulund entry points.
Toll booths remain operational because non-exempt commercial vehicles are still charged. The equipment is also used to classify and count vehicles. Therefore, drivers may still need to slow down and pass through marked lanes even when their payable toll is zero.
Monthly Pass Information
The Mumbai entry-point toll system is different from the standard NHAI local-resident pass system. The official tariff schedule had provided a single-plaza monthly pass and a multiple-entry pass for frequent light-vehicle users. However, eligible light motor vehicles do not currently need such a pass at Vashi because their normal crossing charge has been waived.
The NHAI FASTag Annual Pass should not be treated as covering Vashi Toll Plaza. Vashi is administered under Maharashtra’s state entry-point toll arrangement rather than the ordinary NHAI fee-plaza system.

Directions to Vashi Toll Plaza
1. From Central Mumbai
Travel towards Sion or Chembur and join the Sion–Panvel Highway in the direction of Mankhurd and Navi Mumbai. Continue east through Mankhurd and cross Vashi Creek Bridge. The toll-plaza area is reached near Vashi.
2. From Mankhurd
Join the eastbound Sion–Panvel Highway and follow signs for Vashi, Navi Mumbai and Panvel. Cross the creek bridge and remain in the correct lane when approaching the plaza.
3. From Panvel or Belapur
Travel west on the Sion–Panvel Highway through Kharghar, Belapur, Nerul and Sanpada. Continue towards Vashi and Mumbai. The toll booths appear near the creek bridge before entering Mankhurd.
4. From Thane or Airoli
Use Thane–Belapur Road through Airoli, Rabale, Ghansoli and Kopar Khairane. Continue towards Vashi and join the Sion–Panvel Highway in the required direction.
5. From the Mumbai–Pune Expressway
After reaching Kalamboli, continue towards Mumbai on the Sion–Panvel Highway. Travel through Kharghar, Belapur, Nerul and Vashi. Mumbai–Pune Expressway toll charges are separate from the Vashi entry-point system.
FASTag and Payment Information
Eligible light vehicles should not receive a payable toll deduction at Vashi. Commercial and heavy-vehicle owners should keep their FASTag active and correctly linked to the vehicle’s registration category.
