Kumhari Toll Plaza is an important toll collection point on National Highway 53 in Durg district, Chhattisgarh. It is located between Raipur and Bhilai near Kumhari town and the Kharun River.

A private car, jeep or van pays ₹25 for one passage through Kumhari Toll Plaza.
An eligible outward and return journey costs ₹40 when the vehicle returns through the plaza within 24 hours using the same FASTag.

Directions to Kumhari Toll Plaza
1. From Raipur
Join NH 53 and travel west towards Tatibandh, Chandanidih, Kumhari, Bhilai and Durg.
Continue on the Bhilai-bound carriageway. The plaza is reached near Kumhari after crossing the Raipur-side approaches to the Kharun River.
Traffic may be heavy around Tatibandh, Sarona, Chandanidih and the bridge approaches during peak hours.
2. From Bhilai
Join NH 53 and travel east towards Bhilai-3, Charoda, Kumhari and Raipur.
Continue on the Raipur-bound carriageway. Follow the toll-lane signs while approaching Kumhari.
3. From Durg
Travel east on NH 53 through the Bhilai urban corridor towards Kumhari and Raipur.
The journey normally crosses Kumhari Toll Plaza before entering the main Raipur region.
4. From Bhilai-3 and Charoda
Join NH 53 towards Kumhari and Raipur.
Whether a short local journey crosses the plaza depends on the highway junction used and the destination.
Local roads through Amleshwar or nearby areas may provide alternative connections, but drivers should use only recognised and suitable roads.
5. From Rajnandgaon
Travel east on NH 53 through Durg and Bhilai towards Raipur.
Continue beyond Bhilai and Charoda. Kumhari is normally one of the final toll points before reaching Raipur.
6. From Raipur Airport
Use the appropriate airport road, ring-road or city connection towards NH 53.
Join the highway towards Tatibandh, Kumhari, Bhilai and Durg. The selected route may vary considerably according to traffic and current diversions.
7. From Bilaspur
Travel towards Raipur using NH 130 or the appropriate connecting route.
After reaching the Raipur region, join NH 53 towards Kumhari, Bhilai and Durg. Other toll plazas may apply on the complete Bilaspur–Durg journey.
Is Kumhari Toll Plaza Still Open?
Yes. Kumhari Toll Plaza remains active as of August 2026.
There had been repeated demands to close the plaza because of congestion and its location within the expanding Raipur–Bhilai urban corridor.
The proposed closure was connected to the completion of the approximately 92-kilometre Durg–Raipur–Arang bypass. Earlier announcements suggested that Kumhari Toll Plaza could close in June 2026.
However, the bypass project was delayed. Consequently, the planned closure of Kumhari Toll Plaza was also postponed.
The current toll tariff remains effective until March 31, 2027 unless NHAI issues an earlier closure or revised collection order.
Drivers should therefore not assume that toll collection has stopped merely because an older news report mentioned a June 2026 closure date.
Kumhari and Mandir Hasaud Toll Plazas Are Different
Kumhari and Mandir Hasaud are separate toll plazas on different sides of Raipur.
Kumhari Toll Plaza is west of Raipur on NH 53 towards Bhilai and Durg.
Mandir Hasaud Toll Plaza is east of Raipur on the route towards Arang, Mahasamund and Odisha.
A vehicle travelling across the wider Raipur region from Bhilai towards Mahasamund may receive separate deductions at both locations.
These deductions are not automatically duplicate transactions because the plazas cover different highway sections.
Kumhari Toll and Future Bypass Toll Are Different
The Durg–Raipur–Arang bypass is a separate highway project being constructed to divert through traffic away from the congested urban corridor.
