Kumhari Toll Plaza Rates

The following toll charges apply from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027.

Vehicle category Single journey Return journey Monthly pass
Car, jeep or van ₹25 ₹40 ₹880
Light commercial vehicle or minibus ₹40 ₹60 ₹1,365
Bus or two-axle truck ₹85 ₹125 ₹2,785

Heavy construction or earth-moving equipment ₹165 ₹250 ₹5,560
Vehicle with seven or more axles ₹180 ₹270 ₹5,980

A private car, jeep or van pays ₹25 for one passage through Kumhari Toll Plaza.

An eligible outward and return journey costs ₹40 when the vehicle returns through the plaza within 24 hours using the same FASTag.

The standard monthly car pass costs ₹880. It is meant for frequent travellers and is different from the concessional local-resident monthly pass.

Single and Return Charges Explained

The ₹25 car rate applies to one crossing through Kumhari Toll Plaza.

The ₹40 return rate covers one outward crossing and one eligible return crossing. It does not mean that ₹40 is deducted during each passage.

A typical FASTag transaction may appear as:

  • First crossing: ₹25
  • Eligible return crossing: ₹15
  • Total charge for both crossings: ₹40

The return journey must normally be completed within 24 hours using the same active FASTag.

When a vehicle returns after the permitted period, the second passage may be treated as another single journey and charged ₹25.

Drivers should keep both FASTag transaction messages until the return journey has been completed.

Local Commercial Vehicle Rates

Reduced per-crossing charges are listed for qualifying commercial vehicles registered within the district where Kumhari Toll Plaza is located.

Commercial vehicle category Local rate
Commercial car, jeep or van ₹15
Light commercial vehicle or minibus ₹20
Bus or two-axle truck ₹40
Commercial vehicle with up to three axles ₹45
Four-to-six-axle vehicle ₹85
Heavy construction or earth-moving equipment ₹85
Vehicle with seven or more axles ₹90

A vehicle registered in Durg district may not receive the reduced toll automatically.

The vehicle owner may be required to provide:

  • Vehicle registration certificate
  • Valid commercial permit
  • Business or residential-address proof
  • Active FASTag linked to the vehicle
  • Proof of regular local operation
  • Completed concession application
  • Additional documents requested by the plaza office

The reduced rate normally becomes active only after the toll administration verifies the documents and links the concession to the vehicle’s FASTag.

Local Resident Monthly Pass

A person living within 20 kilometres of Kumhari Toll Plaza may apply for a concessional monthly pass for a privately owned, non-commercial car, jeep or van.

The local monthly-pass charge for FY 2026–27 is:

₹350 per month

Applicants may be required to submit:

  • Vehicle registration certificate
  • Aadhaar card or another identity document
  • Current residential-address proof
  • Active FASTag linked to the vehicle
  • Registered mobile number
  • Recent photograph
  • Completed local-pass application

The toll administration must verify that the applicant lives within the prescribed 20-kilometre distance.

Residents of Kumhari, Bhilai-3, Charoda, Tatibandh, Chandanidih and nearby areas may qualify depending on the measured distance from the plaza and the address documents submitted.

Merely owning a vehicle registered in Durg or Raipur district does not automatically activate the local pass.

Is Kumhari Toll Plaza Still Open?

Yes. Kumhari Toll Plaza remains active as of August 2026.

There had been repeated demands to close the plaza because of congestion and its location within the expanding Raipur–Bhilai urban corridor.

The proposed closure was connected to the completion of the approximately 92-kilometre Durg–Raipur–Arang bypass. Earlier announcements suggested that Kumhari Toll Plaza could close in June 2026.

However, the bypass project was delayed. Consequently, the planned closure of Kumhari Toll Plaza was also postponed.

The current toll tariff remains effective until March 31, 2027 unless NHAI issues an earlier closure or revised collection order.

Drivers should therefore not assume that toll collection has stopped merely because an older news report mentioned a June 2026 closure date.

Kumhari and Mandir Hasaud Toll Plazas Are Different

Kumhari and Mandir Hasaud are separate toll plazas on different sides of Raipur.

Kumhari Toll Plaza is west of Raipur on NH 53 towards Bhilai and Durg.

Mandir Hasaud Toll Plaza is east of Raipur on the route towards Arang, Mahasamund and Odisha.

A vehicle travelling across the wider Raipur region from Bhilai towards Mahasamund may receive separate deductions at both locations.

These deductions are not automatically duplicate transactions because the plazas cover different highway sections.

Kumhari Toll and Future Bypass Toll Are Different

The Durg–Raipur–Arang bypass is a separate highway project being constructed to divert through traffic away from the congested urban corridor.

Once the bypass becomes operational, toll arrangements may be revised. Kumhari Toll Plaza could be closed, shifted or incorporated into a new collection system.

Until an official notification is issued, drivers should continue to follow the current NH 53 tariff and toll-lane instructions.

FASTag and Payment Information

FASTag is the standard payment method at Kumhari Toll Plaza.

Before travelling, ensure that the FASTag:

  • Is active and has sufficient balance
  • Is correctly attached to the windscreen
  • Is linked to the correct registration number
  • Shows the proper vehicle category
  • Has completed the required verification
  • Is not suspended, damaged or blacklisted

Maintain sufficient distance from the vehicle ahead while entering a toll lane. Following a bus or truck too closely may prevent the scanner from correctly identifying both vehicles.

A transaction message may display Kumhari, Raipur–Durg or plaza code 349010.

An incorrect deduction can be reported through:

  • FASTag-issuing bank
  • RajmargYatra
  • National Highway helpline 1033
  • Kumhari toll control room

Keep the transaction message, vehicle number, date, time and plaza name while filing a complaint.

FASTag Annual Pass

The National Highway FASTag Annual Pass costs ₹3,075 for FY 2026–27.

It is available for eligible privately registered, non-commercial cars, jeeps and vans.

The pass remains valid for:

  • One year from activation; or
  • 200 eligible National Highway and National Expressway fee-plaza crossings,

whichever occurs first.

Kumhari has recorded Annual Pass transactions and is treated as an eligible National Highway fee plaza while toll collection remains operational.

One passage through Kumhari normally counts as one crossing. Travelling through the plaza and later returning generally counts as two crossings.

A person commuting through Kumhari daily should compare the Annual Pass with the local ₹350 monthly pass and standard ₹880 monthly pass.

The Annual Pass provides only 200 crossings. A daily return commuter may use those crossings in approximately 100 travelling days.

Before purchasing, confirm the plaza’s current operational and eligibility status through RajmargYatra because its proposed closure is linked to the completion of the new bypass.

Facilities and Emergency Contacts

The current plaza listing does not identify a dedicated NHAI rest area, truck lay-by or static weighbridge directly at Kumhari Toll Plaza.

Traffic and Safety Tips

Kumhari Toll Plaza may experience heavy traffic during:

  • Morning office hours
  • Evening office-return traffic
  • Friday and Sunday travel
  • Public holidays and long weekends
  • Festival periods
  • School and industrial shift timings
  • Heavy truck movement
  • Accidents or vehicle breakdowns
  • Road or bridge maintenance
  • Monsoon rainfall

Choose the correct toll lane early and avoid sudden lane changes near the booths.

The Raipur–Bhilai corridor carries city buses, interstate buses, trucks, cars, motorcycles and local vehicles. Traffic queues may extend towards the Kharun bridge during busy periods.

Maintain additional distance from heavy vehicles and reduce speed before reaching the toll lanes.

During monsoon rain, the bridge approach and road markings may be difficult to see. Avoid stopping near the active highway lanes except during a genuine emergency.
