Ghoti Toll Plaza is an important toll collection point on National Highway 160 in Nashik district, Maharashtra. It serves vehicles travelling between Mumbai, Bhiwandi, Shahapur, Kasara, Igatpuri, Ghoti and Nashik.
The toll plaza forms part of the Vadape–Gonde highway project. Older documents identify this road as NH 3, which was historically known as the Mumbai–Agra Highway. Following the renumbering of National Highways, the Mumbai–Nashik section is now generally shown as NH 160.
Ghoti Toll Plaza is located near Ghoti Budruk in Igatpuri Taluka. It handles private cars, buses, tourist vehicles and substantial commercial traffic moving between Mumbai, Nashik and northern Maharashtra.

Ghoti Toll Plaza Rates
The following toll rates are applicable from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027.
| Vehicle category | Single journey | Return journey | Monthly pass |
| Car, jeep or van | ₹140 | Not available | Not available |
| Light commercial vehicle or minibus | ₹245 | Not available | Not available |
| Bus or two-axle truck | ₹495 | Not available | Not available |
| Commercial vehicle with up to three axles | ₹795 | Not available | Not available |
| Four-to-six-axle vehicle | ₹795 | Not available | Not available |
| Heavy construction or earth-moving equipment | ₹795 | Not available | Not available |
| Vehicle with seven or more axles | ₹795 | Not available | Not available |
A car, jeep or van pays ₹140 for each crossing through Ghoti Toll Plaza.
Unlike many National Highway fee plazas, the published Ghoti tariff does not list a discounted 24-hour return rate. A vehicle passing through the plaza and later returning should normally budget for two separate single-journey charges.
For a car, the likely toll for one complete outward and return movement is: ₹140 outward + ₹140 return = ₹280
Drivers should check both FASTag transaction messages because the applicable amount depends on the tariff active on the crossing date.
Why Ghoti Has No Separate Return Rate
Ghoti operates under an older BOT toll arrangement governed by the National Highways Fee Rules of 1997. Its published rate schedule shows only a single-journey charge.
This means the toll system should not be compared directly with newer plazas that offer:
- A discounted return journey valid for 24 hours
- A monthly pass covering 50 single journeys
- A nationally prescribed local monthly pass
Returning through Ghoti on the same day does not automatically create a discounted return transaction. The second crossing may be charged at the complete single-journey rate.
Drivers should therefore avoid assuming that a ₹140 first deduction will be followed by a smaller second deduction.
Local Commercial Vehicle Rates
Reduced per-crossing rates are listed for qualifying commercial vehicles registered within the applicable local district.
| Vehicle category | Local commercial rate |
| Car, jeep or van used commercially | ₹35 |
| Light commercial vehicle or minibus | ₹60 |
| Bus or two-axle truck | ₹125 |
| Commercial vehicle with up to three axles | ₹200 |
| Four-to-six-axle vehicle | ₹200 |
| Heavy construction or earth-moving equipment | ₹200 |
| Vehicle with seven or more axles | ₹200 |
A Nashik district registration number may not be sufficient on its own. The toll administration may require proof that the vehicle satisfies the commercial local-use conditions.
Documents may include:
- Vehicle registration certificate
- Commercial permit
- Owner’s address proof
- Business or operating documents
- Active FASTag linked to the vehicle
- Proof of regular local operation
- Application approved by the toll office
The reduced rate should not be expected to activate automatically merely because the registration number begins with a Nashik RTO code.
Monthly Pass and Local Personal Concession
The current published tariff does not list a standard monthly pass for private or commercial vehicles at Ghoti Toll Plaza.
Nearby residents should contact the toll administration to check whether a local personal-traffic concession is currently available and what conditions apply.
Eligibility may depend on:
- Distance between the residence and toll plaza
- Vehicle registration and ownership
- Private or commercial use
- FASTag status
- Address documents
- Regular route of travel
- Approval under the older concession rules
Applicants should not rely on monthly-pass prices applicable at newer NHAI plazas because Ghoti follows a different fee structure.

Join NH 160 towards Shahapur, Kasara, Igatpuri and Nashik. Continue through the Kasara Ghat and Igatpuri section.

Join the Mumbai–Nashik highway towards Shahapur, Asangaon, Kasara and Igatpuri.
Continue on NH 160 through the ghat section. Follow the toll-lane signs while approaching Ghoti.
The complete journey may include another toll point on the Vadape–Gonde corridor, depending on the entry point and route.

4. From Igatpuri
Join NH 160 towards Ghoti and Nashik.
Continue east on the main highway. The toll plaza is located a short distance from the Igatpuri and Ghoti area.
Travellers going towards Mumbai should use the opposite carriageway through an authorised junction.
5. From Trimbakeshwar
Use the appropriate road towards Ghoti according to the current navigation route.
Join NH 160 through an authorised connection and select the Nashik-bound or Mumbai-bound carriageway according to the destination.
Local roads around Trimbakeshwar and Ghoti can be narrow and winding, particularly during the monsoon.
Ghoti Toll and Samruddhi Expressway Toll Are Separate
Ghoti Toll Plaza is on NH 160, while the Mumbai–Nagpur Samruddhi Mahamarg is a separate access-controlled expressway.
Drivers joining or leaving Samruddhi Expressway near the Igatpuri region may also use a short section of NH 160 and cross Ghoti Toll Plaza, depending on the selected connection.
Payment at one road does not automatically cover the other.
A driver may therefore receive:
- A Ghoti FASTag deduction for NH 160
- A separate Samruddhi Expressway deduction
- Another deduction at a connected toll plaza farther along the journey
These transactions are not necessarily duplicates. Check the plaza name, time and route before raising a complaint.
FASTag and Payment Information
FASTag is the standard electronic payment method at Ghoti Toll Plaza. Before travelling, drivers should ensure that the tag:
- Is active and has sufficient balance
- Is correctly attached to the windscreen
- Is linked to the correct vehicle registration number
- Shows the correct vehicle category
- Has completed the required verification
- Is not damaged, suspended or blacklisted
Maintain sufficient distance from the vehicle ahead when entering the toll lane. This allows the scanner to read each tag separately.
Drivers should save the FASTag message after crossing. Since no standard return rate is listed, two ₹140 deductions for a car travelling in both directions may be correct.
An incorrect deduction can be reported through the FASTag-issuing bank or National Highway helpline 1033.
FASTag Annual Pass
Eligible privately registered, non-commercial cars, jeeps and vans may use the NHAI FASTag Annual Pass at approved National Highway and National Expressway fee plazas.
The Annual Pass costs ₹3,075 for the 2026–27 financial year. It remains valid for one year or 200 eligible toll-plaza crossings, whichever is completed first.
Each passage through an open toll plaza normally counts as one crossing. Passing through Ghoti and later returning would generally count as two crossings when the plaza is covered by the pass.
Before relying on the Annual Pass, motorists should confirm that Ghoti Fee Plaza appears as eligible in the RajmargYatra system. The pass does not automatically cover tolls charged on the separately operated Samruddhi Expressway.

Traffic and Safety Tips
Ghoti Toll Plaza can experience heavy traffic during:
- Friday and Saturday evenings
- Sunday return traffic
- Public holidays and long weekends
- Nashik and Shirdi festival travel
- Monsoon tourism in Igatpuri
- Heavy commercial-vehicle movement

The Kasara–Igatpuri section has steep gradients, curves and heavy truck traffic. Drivers should maintain a safe distance and avoid overtaking from an unsafe side.
During the monsoon, fog and heavy rainfall can reduce visibility. Reduce speed and follow temporary traffic-control signs.
Do not stop on the toll approach, highway shoulder or ghat section for photographs. Use authorised parking or rest locations.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: Why do some websites show ₹135 while others show ₹140 for a car?
A: Some listings show the tariff that became effective at the end of May 2026. The newer tariff effective from July 1, 2026, lists ₹140 for a car, jeep or van.
Q2: Does a same-day return through Ghoti receive a discount?
A: No standard return discount is shown in the current tariff. A car crossing in both directions should normally budget ₹280, consisting of two ₹140 single journeys.
Q3: Why was I charged at Ghoti after paying on Samruddhi Expressway?
A: NH 160 and Samruddhi Expressway are separate tolled roads. Using the connecting road near Igatpuri can result in separate deductions for both facilities.
Q4: How can an incorrect Ghoti FASTag deduction be challenged?
A: Save the FASTag message and note the plaza name, time, amount and vehicle number. Report the transaction through the FASTag-issuing bank or call 1033. The bank can request the toll record and raise a chargeback when appropriate.
