A car, jeep or van pays ₹125 for a single crossing. The return-journey charge is ₹190 when the outward and return crossings are completed within the permitted 24-hour period.
The standard monthly pass for a car, jeep or van costs ₹4,205. This is different from the concessional local monthly pass offered to eligible residents living close to the plaza.
Single and Return-Journey Charges Explained
The ₹125 car charge applies to one crossing through Shambhu Toll Plaza.
The ₹190 return rate covers an eligible outward and return journey through the same plaza. It does not mean that ₹190 is charged separately in each direction.
For example, a car travelling from Ambala towards Rajpura and returning through Shambhu Toll Plaza within 24 hours may pay ₹190 in total instead of two separate ₹125 charges.
The same active FASTag should be used for both crossings. The system records the first transaction and normally adjusts the discounted return amount during the second crossing.
A vehicle returning after the permitted time may be charged another single-journey toll. Drivers should retain both FASTag transaction messages until the return journey is complete.

An Ambala district registration number may not be enough by itself. The toll administration may ask for the vehicle registration certificate, commercial permit, address proof and documents establishing that the vehicle qualifies under the local-use rules.
The concession should not be assumed to apply automatically. Vehicle owners should obtain approval from the toll office.
Local Resident Monthly Pass
An eligible resident living within 20 kilometres of Shambhu Toll Plaza may apply for a concessional monthly pass for a privately owned, non-commercial car, jeep or van.

Directions to Shambhu Toll Plaza
1. From Ambala
Join NH 44 towards Rajpura, Ludhiana and Jalandhar.
Continue north from Ambala City towards Devi Nagar and the Punjab border. Follow the toll-lane signs while approaching the Ghaggar River and Shambhu area.
The plaza is reached before entering Punjab.
2. From Rajpura
Travel south on NH 44 towards Shambhu, Ambala, Karnal and Delhi.
Continue through the Rajpura bypass and approach the Punjab–Haryana boundary. The toll plaza is reached after crossing the Shambhu border area towards Haryana.
3. From Chandigarh
Travel towards Zirakpur and choose the route leading to Rajpura and NH 44.
Continue towards Shambhu and Ambala. Depending on the selected route, navigation may also suggest travelling through Dera Bassi and Ambala Cantt without using the Rajpura–Shambhu section.
4. From Ludhiana
Travel south on NH 44 through Khanna, Mandi Gobindgarh, Sirhind and Rajpura.
Continue beyond Rajpura towards Ambala and Delhi. Follow the signs for Shambhu or Ghaggar Toll Plaza.
5. From Delhi
Travel north on NH 44 through Sonipat, Panipat, Karnal, Kurukshetra and Ambala.
Continue towards Rajpura and Ludhiana. The complete Delhi–Shambhu journey includes other toll plazas, so Shambhu’s ₹125 car charge is not the total toll cost for the full route.
FASTag and Payment Information
FASTag is the standard payment method at Shambhu Toll Plaza. Before travelling, drivers should ensure that the tag:
