| Vehicle category | Single journey | Return journey | Monthly pass |
| Car, jeep or van | ₹145 | ₹215 | ₹4,780 |
| Light commercial vehicle or minibus | ₹225 | ₹340 | ₹7,540 |

| Vehicle with seven or more axles | ₹905 | ₹1,355 | ₹30,160 |
A car, jeep or van pays ₹145 for one crossing. An eligible return journey costs ₹215 when the outward and return crossings are completed within the permitted 24-hour period.
The standard monthly pass for a car, jeep or van costs ₹4,780. It is intended for frequent users and should not be confused with the concessional local monthly pass.
Single and Return-Journey Charges Explained
The ₹145 car rate applies to one crossing through Bhatia Toll Plaza.
The ₹215 return rate covers an eligible outward and return journey through the same plaza. It does not mean that ₹215 is charged separately in each direction.
For example, a car travelling through Bhatia Toll Plaza towards Hazira and returning through the plaza within 24 hours may pay ₹215 in total instead of two separate ₹145 charges.
The toll system may deduct ₹145 during the first crossing and the remaining ₹70 during the return crossing. The same active FASTag should be used during both journeys.
A vehicle returning after the permitted time may be charged another ₹145 single-journey toll. Drivers should keep both FASTag transaction messages until the return journey is complete.
Local Resident Monthly Pass
A person living within 20 kilometres of Bhatia Toll Plaza may qualify for a concessional monthly pass for a privately owned, non-commercial car, jeep or van.
The local monthly-pass charge for the 2026–27 financial year is: ₹350 per month
Applicants may be required to provide:
- Vehicle registration certificate
- Aadhaar card or another identity document
- Current residential-address proof
- Active FASTag linked to the vehicle
- Registered mobile number
- Recent photograph
- Completed local-pass application
The toll administration must verify that the applicant’s residence is within the permitted distance.
The pass is linked to a particular resident, vehicle and FASTag. Merely owning a vehicle registered in Surat district does not automatically activate the concession.
Local Commercial Vehicle Concession
The current published rate table does not show a separate discounted tariff for commercial vehicles registered in Surat district.
Commercial vehicle owners should not assume that a GJ-05 registration number automatically qualifies the vehicle for a reduced toll.
Any concession may depend on:
- Vehicle category
- Commercial permit
- Registered address
- Regular operating route
- FASTag details
- Conditions of the concession agreement
- Approval by the toll administration
Operators of trucks, buses, taxis or goods vehicles should contact the toll control room and obtain confirmation before applying.

Join NH 53 through an authorised junction and follow signs towards Palsana, Bardoli or Hazira. The toll plaza is situated near Ravla Alias Vaktana.
Drivers starting from western Surat may be directed through another city road before joining NH 53. Check the complete navigation route rather than searching only for Bhatia village.
2. From Hazira Port
Travel east or southeast on NH 53 towards Surat, Palsana and Bardoli.
Continue through the Hazira industrial corridor. Remain on the main highway and follow the signs for Bhatia Toll Plaza.
The road carries substantial port and industrial traffic, including trailers and multi-axle vehicles.
3. From Palsana
Join NH 53 towards Surat and Hazira.
Continue west towards Ravla Alias Vaktana. The toll plaza is reached shortly after leaving the main Palsana-side highway connections.
4. From Bardoli
Travel west using NH 53 towards Palsana, Surat and Hazira.
Continue beyond the Palsana region. Follow the toll-lane signs while approaching the Surat-side section.
5. From Vyara
Travel west on NH 53 towards Bardoli, Palsana, Surat and Hazira.
A complete journey from Vyara towards Hazira may cross both Mandal and Bhatia Toll Plazas. Each plaza covers a different section of the highway project.
6. From Mumbai, Vapi or Navsari
Travel north on NH 48 towards Navsari, Palsana and Surat.
Near Palsana, use the appropriate interchange to join NH 53 towards Surat and Hazira. Continue towards Bhatia Toll Plaza.
The complete Mumbai–Hazira journey includes several other toll plazas. Bhatia’s ₹145 car charge is not the total toll for the entire route.
7. From Ahmedabad or Bharuch
Travel south on NH 48 towards Surat and Palsana.
Use the appropriate connection to join NH 53 towards Hazira. The chosen route may vary depending on traffic conditions and the exact destination within Surat or Hazira.
Bhatia and Mandal Toll Plazas Are Different
Bhatia Toll Plaza and Mandal Toll Plaza are separate toll collection points on the same broader NH 53 project.
Bhatia is located in Surat district near the Surat–Hazira side of the corridor. Mandal Toll Plaza is located farther east near Vyara in Tapi district.
A vehicle travelling only between Surat and Hazira may cross Bhatia without reaching Mandal.
A longer journey between Hazira and Vyara, Songadh or the Maharashtra-border side may cross both plazas. Separate FASTag deductions at Bhatia and Mandal are therefore not automatically duplicate charges.
The plaza codes and transaction names should be checked before filing a complaint.
FASTag and Payment Information
FASTag is the standard payment method at Bhatia Toll Plaza. Before travelling, drivers should ensure that the tag:
- Is active and has sufficient balance
- Is correctly attached to the windscreen
- Is linked to the correct registration number
- Shows the proper vehicle category
- Has completed the required verification
- Is not damaged, suspended or blacklisted
Maintain enough distance from the vehicle ahead while entering the toll lane. Industrial trucks and trailers may require more space and additional time to clear the booths.
Check the FASTag transaction message after crossing. It should show Bhatia or Bhatiya Toll Plaza, the transaction time and the amount deducted.
An incorrect transaction can be reported through the FASTag-issuing bank, RajmargYatra or National Highway helpline 1033.
FASTag Annual Pass
The NHAI FASTag Annual Pass costs ₹3,075 for the 2026–27 financial year. It is available for eligible privately registered, non-commercial cars, jeeps and vans.
The pass remains valid for one year from activation or 200 eligible toll-plaza crossings, whichever is completed first.
Each one-way passage through an open toll plaza normally counts as one crossing. Passing through Bhatia and later returning generally counts as two crossings.
Before purchasing or relying on the pass, drivers should confirm that:
- Bhatia Fee Plaza appears in the eligible-plaza list
- The vehicle is privately registered and non-commercial
- The registered vehicle category is car, jeep or van
- The FASTag is linked to the correct registration number
- The tag is active and KYC-compliant
The Annual Pass is activated on the existing FASTag and cannot be transferred to another vehicle.

A truck lay-by is listed near Km 93.910 on NH 53. A static weighbridge is available near Km 41.640 on the associated project corridor.

Traffic and Safety Tips
Bhatia Toll Plaza carries substantial industrial and port-related traffic. Congestion may increase during:
- Factory shift-change hours
- Heavy movement to and from Hazira Port
- Morning and evening peak periods
- Public holidays and festival travel
- Road repairs or diversions
- Heavy monsoon rainfall
- Accidents involving commercial vehicles
Choose the correct toll lane early and avoid sudden lane changes near the booths.
Maintain additional distance from trucks, trailers, tankers and oversized industrial vehicles. Large vehicles may move slowly or require wider turns while entering and leaving toll lanes.
During heavy rain, reduce speed and allow additional braking distance. Water accumulation and poor visibility may affect the Surat–Hazira corridor during intense monsoon weather.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: Why do older records show NH 6 instead of NH 53?
A: The Surat–Hazira and Gujarat–Maharashtra border corridor was previously part of NH 6. Following the national highway renumbering exercise, this section became part of NH 53.
Q2: Does every Surat-to-Hazira journey cross Bhatia Toll Plaza?
A: Not necessarily. Whether the plaza is crossed depends on the starting point in Surat and the route selected. Vehicles using the main NH 53 corridor towards Hazira generally cross it.
Q3: Why were both Bhatia and Mandal tolls deducted?
A: Bhatia and Mandal are separate toll plazas on different portions of the same highway project. A long journey between Hazira and Vyara or the Maharashtra-border side may legitimately cross both.
Q4: How can an incorrect Bhatia FASTag deduction be challenged?
A: Save the transaction message and note the plaza name, time, amount and vehicle number. Report the deduction through the FASTag-issuing bank or call 1033. Include details of both journeys when disputing a return-toll transaction.
