KMP Expressway is a 135.6-kilometre access-controlled road running between Kundli, Manesar and Palwal in Haryana. Its official alternative name is the Western Peripheral Expressway.
Unlike a normal highway with one main toll plaza, KMP Expressway has multiple toll points at its entry and exit ramps. The toll is calculated according to the distance travelled, vehicle category and interchange used.
A driver entering at Kundli and leaving at Palwal pays for almost the complete expressway. A driver entering at Manesar and leaving at Bahadurgarh pays only for the applicable section.
The road allows vehicles travelling between northern, western and southern India to bypass central Delhi.

KMP Expressway Toll Rates
KMP Expressway does not use one flat toll rate at every plaza. The charge depends on the distance between the recorded entry and exit points.
The following amounts provide an approximate one-way reference for travelling through the complete KMP corridor.
| Vehicle category | Approximate full-route one-way toll | Approximate full-route return cost |
| Car, jeep or van | ₹280 | ₹560 |
| Light commercial vehicle or minibus | ₹450 | ₹900 |
| Bus or two-axle truck | ₹945 | ₹1,890 |
| Three-axle commercial vehicle | ₹1,035 | ₹2,070 |
| Four-to-six-axle vehicle | ₹1,485 | ₹2,970 |
| Vehicle with seven or more axles | ₹1,810 | ₹3,620 |
These are complete-route reference amounts. A shorter journey should normally cost less.
For example, a car travelling from Manesar to Palwal, Bahadurgarh to Kundli or Sohna to Manesar should not automatically be charged the complete ₹280 amount.
Drivers should treat the FASTag deduction shown for their actual entry and exit combination as the applicable toll.
Why KMP Toll Charges Vary
The road uses a closed-tolling system. FASTag equipment records where a vehicle enters and calculates the toll when it leaves.
The final charge depends on:
- Entry interchange
- Exit interchange
- Distance travelled
- Vehicle category recorded in FASTag
- Direction of travel
- Successful recording of the entry transaction
A vehicle may pass through several toll structures, but the amount should correspond to the section travelled rather than being a separate full toll at every booth.
If the entry transaction is not recorded correctly, the system may deduct the maximum route charge at the exit. This is one of the main reasons drivers sometimes see an unexpected ₹280 car deduction.
Return-Journey Charges
KMP Expressway does not follow the simple discounted 24-hour return system used at many open National Highway toll plazas.
Each direction is normally treated as a separate distance-based journey.
A car travelling from Kundli to Palwal and later returning over the complete route should therefore budget approximately:
₹280 outward + ₹280 return = ₹560
A shorter return journey will be calculated according to its entry and exit points.
Drivers should use the same active FASTag in both directions and retain all transaction messages until the trip is completed.
Main KMP Expressway Toll and Interchange Locations
KMP toll collection takes place at major entry and exit points rather than at one plaza carrying the entire route’s toll.
Important access locations include:
1. Kundli Interchange
Kundli is the northern end of KMP Expressway. It connects with NH 44, formerly NH 1, near Sonipat.
It is useful for traffic travelling towards Panipat, Karnal, Chandigarh, Punjab and Jammu.
2. Jakhauli Area
Jakhauli is one of the important toll-recording locations near the Kundli side. FASTag messages may show names such as Jakhauli Main Plaza or Village Jakhauli.
3. Kharkhoda Interchange
This interchange provides access to Kharkhoda and nearby parts of Sonipat district.
4. Asoda and Bahadurgarh Interchanges
These connections serve Bahadurgarh, Rohtak Road and NH 9. They are useful for vehicles travelling between western Haryana and northern sections of KMP.
5. Badli Interchange
Badli provides access to nearby areas of Jhajjar district and the western side of Delhi-NCR.
6. Farrukhnagar Interchange
This connection serves Farrukhnagar, Jhajjar and nearby industrial or logistics areas.
7. Panchgaon and Manesar Interchange
The Manesar connection links KMP Expressway with NH 48, formerly NH 8.
It is an important interchange for Gurugram, Delhi, Rewari, Dharuhera and Jaipur-bound traffic. FASTag messages may show names such as Manesar, Panchgaon or Manesar-7B.
8. Sohna and Nuh Connections
These interchanges serve Sohna, Nuh and roads connecting with the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway region.
9. Hathin Interchange
Hathin provides access to local areas of Palwal district and nearby parts of southern Haryana.
10. Palwal Interchange
Palwal is the southern end of KMP Expressway. It connects with NH 19, formerly NH 2, for travel towards Faridabad, Mathura and Agra.
Directions to KMP Expressway

Use NH 9 or the relevant local connection towards the Asoda or Bahadurgarh interchange.
Join the correct KMP carriageway according to the destination.
KMP and Eastern Peripheral Expressway Are Different
KMP Expressway passes around the western side of Delhi. Eastern Peripheral Expressway, also called KGP Expressway, passes around the eastern side.
The two roads meet near Kundli in the north and Palwal in the south, forming a large peripheral ring around Delhi-NCR.
Toll paid on KMP does not cover travel on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway. A vehicle using portions of both roads may receive separate FASTag deductions.
Drivers should check whether a transaction message mentions:
- KMP or Western Peripheral Expressway
- Main Plaza Village Jakhauli
- Kundli, Asoda or Manesar
- Eastern Peripheral Expressway
- DME–KMP interchange
- Palwal or another ramp location
FASTag and Payment Information
FASTag is the standard payment method on KMP Expressway.
Before entering, drivers should ensure that the FASTag:
- Is active and has sufficient balance
- Is fixed correctly to the windscreen
- Is linked to the correct registration number
- Shows the correct vehicle category
- Is not damaged or blacklisted
- Has completed the required KYC
Both entry and exit scans are important. If the entry is not captured, the system may treat the vehicle as having travelled from the farthest possible point.
Drivers should check the FASTag message after leaving the expressway. Keep the entry time, exit location and transaction amount available until the deduction has been verified.
FASTag Annual Pass
The NHAI FASTag Annual Pass should not automatically be assumed to cover KMP Expressway.
KMP is a Haryana state expressway managed through HSIIDC rather than an ordinary NHAI National Highway toll project.
A normal FASTag account can be used for payment, but the NHAI Annual Pass may not prevent a balance deduction on KMP.
Drivers should check the current eligible-plaza list in RajmargYatra before relying on an annual pass.
Monthly Pass and Local Concessions
KMP Expressway does not publish one universal monthly-pass rate suitable for every vehicle and route.
Any frequent-user or local concession may depend on:
- Regular entry and exit points
- Residential location
- Vehicle category
- Private or commercial registration
- Number of journeys
- FASTag details
- Toll-operator approval
Residents and regular commercial users should contact the toll administration at the interchange they use most frequently.
A local Haryana registration number alone does not guarantee a discounted toll.
Traffic and Safety Tips
KMP Expressway carries heavy truck and interstate traffic. Drivers should maintain extra distance from trailers, tankers and multi-axle vehicles.
Do not stop on the carriageway or shoulder except during a genuine emergency. Serious accidents have occurred when stationary vehicles were struck by fast-moving traffic.
Follow the speed limit displayed on current road signs. Lower limits may apply on certain sections because of road conditions, repair work or accident risk.
During winter, dense fog can severely reduce visibility. During monsoon weather, potholes, water accumulation and uneven road surfaces may affect some sections.
Drivers should also watch for:
- Slow or stationary trucks
- Vehicles changing lanes suddenly
- Missed interchange signs
- Road-repair diversions
- Animals entering through damaged fencing
- Poor visibility at night
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: Why was ₹280 deducted when I used only part of KMP Expressway?
A: The entry scan may not have been recorded, causing the system to apply the maximum car toll. Save the transaction message and raise a complaint with the FASTag bank, giving the actual entry and exit locations.
Q2: Are motorcycles allowed on KMP Expressway?
A: No. Motorcycles and other two-wheelers are not permitted on the access-controlled KMP Expressway. Riders should use an alternative highway or local road.
Q3: Can I reverse after missing my exit?
A: No. Continue to the next authorised interchange and allow navigation to calculate a new route. Reversing or making a U-turn on the expressway can cause a fatal collision.
Q4: What should I do if my vehicle breaks down on KMP?
A: Move as far away from the live traffic lane as safely possible, switch on the hazard lights and place a warning triangle behind the vehicle. Passengers should stand behind a safety barrier where available and call 112 or 108 for assistance.
