Yamuna Expressway Toll Plaza, Uttar Pradesh: Rates, Locations, Route and Directions

Yamuna Expressway is a 165.5-kilometre access-controlled road connecting Greater Noida with Agra in Uttar Pradesh. It is also commonly called the Taj Expressway because it provides a fast road connection from Delhi-NCR to Agra and the Taj Mahal.

Unlike an ordinary highway with one main toll booth, Yamuna Expressway has three main toll plazas. These are located near Jewar, Mathura and Agra. A vehicle travelling the complete route normally crosses all three plazas and pays the applicable charge at each point.

The expressway also has ramp toll plazas at selected entry and exit points. Therefore, a driver leaving the road before Agra may pay only for the applicable sections rather than the complete Greater Noida–Agra toll.

Yamuna Expressway Toll Plaza Locations

1. Jewar Toll Plaza

Jewar Toll Plaza is the first main toll point for vehicles travelling from Greater Noida towards Agra.

It is located near kilometre 38 in the Jewar area of Gautam Buddh Nagar district. Vehicles travelling towards Jewar, the airport area or nearby industrial sectors may enter or leave the expressway through authorised interchanges in this region.

2. Mathura Toll Plaza

Mathura Toll Plaza is the second main toll point and is located near kilometre 95.

It serves the central part of the expressway and traffic travelling towards Mathura, Vrindavan, Raya and surrounding areas. Drivers leaving for Mathura or Vrindavan should follow the correct interchange signs rather than continuing unnecessarily towards Agra.

3. Agra Toll Plaza

Agra Toll Plaza is the third main toll point and is located near kilometre 150.

It serves vehicles approaching the southern end of the expressway near Kuberpur and Khandauli. After leaving the expressway, drivers can continue towards Agra city, the Taj Mahal, Agra Inner Ring Road, NH 19 or the Agra–Lucknow Expressway.

Yamuna Expressway Toll Rates

The following charges are currently displayed by YEIDA for the three main toll plazas.

Vehicle category Jewar Plaza Mathura Plaza Agra Plaza Complete one-way route
Two-wheeler, three-wheeler or tractor ₹60 ₹75 ₹70 ₹205
Car, jeep or van ₹120 ₹155 ₹140 ₹415
Light commercial vehicle ₹185 ₹240 ₹220 ₹645
Bus or truck ₹380 ₹485 ₹445 ₹1,310
Multi-axle vehicle ₹580 ₹740 ₹675 ₹1,995
Oversized vehicle ₹745 ₹955 ₹875 ₹2,575

A car, jeep or van travelling from Greater Noida to Agra through the complete expressway pays a total one-way toll of ₹415.

The amount is collected in separate portions:

  • ₹120 at Jewar Toll Plaza
  • ₹155 at Mathura Toll Plaza
  • ₹140 at Agra Toll Plaza

Drivers may therefore receive three separate FASTag transaction messages during the complete journey. These deductions should not automatically be treated as duplicate charges.

Toll for a Partial Journey

A vehicle does not always have to pay the complete ₹415 car toll.

The actual charge depends on:

  • The entry point
  • The exit point
  • The toll plazas crossed
  • The vehicle category
  • Whether a ramp toll plaza is used
  • The section of the expressway travelled

For example, a car travelling from Greater Noida only up to Jewar may not pay the same amount as a car travelling all the way to Agra.

Similarly, a vehicle entering the expressway near Mathura and leaving near Agra would normally be charged only for the applicable southern section.

Drivers should check each transaction message and compare the time and plaza name with the route actually travelled.

Return-Journey Charges

YEIDA’s current public toll table does not show a separate discounted return-journey rate comparable to the 24-hour return rates available at many National Highway toll plazas.

A vehicle completing the entire route in both directions should normally budget for toll in each direction.

For a car travelling from Greater Noida to Agra and later returning through the complete expressway, the total toll may therefore be approximately:

₹415 going towards Agra + ₹415 returning = ₹830

The final amount can differ when the vehicle enters or leaves through an intermediate interchange.

Drivers should not assume that a second journey on the same day will automatically receive a return discount.

Monthly Pass and Local Concessions

The current public Yamuna Expressway tariff does not provide one standard monthly-pass price for each vehicle category.

A prepaid electronic tag or Smart Tag should not automatically be treated as a monthly pass. It may simply provide electronic payment and faster processing at toll lanes.

Any local, institutional or frequent-user concession may depend on:

  • The regular entry and exit points
  • Residential or business location
  • Vehicle category
  • Number of journeys
  • Vehicle registration details
  • Toll-operator approval

A person requiring a regular-user facility should contact the Yamuna Expressway toll administration and obtain the applicable terms in writing.

Yamuna Expressway and NH 19 Are Different Routes

Yamuna Expressway and NH 19 both connect the Delhi region with Agra, but they are separate roads.

Yamuna Expressway runs from Greater Noida to Kuberpur and passes through the Jewar and Mathura regions. It is a modern access-controlled expressway.

NH 19 follows the older Delhi–Faridabad–Palwal–Mathura–Agra corridor. It has different toll plazas, traffic conditions and entry points.

A navigation application may select either route depending on:

  • Starting location
  • Destination in Agra
  • Traffic congestion
  • Toll preference
  • Road closures
  • Travel time

Drivers should inspect the complete route before beginning the journey.

FASTag and Payment Information

Electronic toll collection is available at all three main toll plazas. Before travelling, drivers should ensure that the FASTag or approved electronic tag:

  • Is active
  • Has sufficient balance
  • Is correctly fixed to the windscreen
  • Is linked to the correct registration number
  • Shows the correct vehicle category
  • Is not damaged or blacklisted

The toll amount is displayed at the booth and a transaction message is normally sent to the registered mobile number.

Maintain adequate distance from the vehicle ahead when entering the toll lane. Driving too close may prevent the scanner from identifying each vehicle separately.

Save all toll messages until the journey is complete, particularly when travelling through more than one plaza.

FASTag Annual Pass

The NHAI FASTag Annual Pass should not be assumed to cover Yamuna Expressway.

The annual pass is intended for eligible toll plazas on National Highways and National Expressways under the applicable central programme. Yamuna Expressway is operated as a YEIDA concession in Uttar Pradesh.

A normal FASTag balance may therefore be deducted even when a vehicle owner has purchased the NHAI Annual Pass.

Drivers should check the eligible-plaza list through RajmargYatra before relying on the annual pass for this route.

Traffic may increase during:

  • Weekends and long holidays
  • School vacation periods
  • Festival travel
  • Peak Taj Mahal tourist seasons
  • Mathura and Vrindavan religious festivals
  • Winter fog
  • Major events in Greater Noida

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What should a driver do after missing an expressway exit?

A: Continue to the next authorised interchange and allow navigation to recalculate the route. Reversing, making a U-turn or driving against traffic is extremely dangerous and prohibited.

Q: Why can one journey produce three FASTag deductions?

A: The complete Yamuna Expressway is divided among the Jewar, Mathura and Agra toll points. A Greater Noida–Agra journey can therefore generate separate deductions at all three plazas.

Q: Can travellers stop on the expressway to take photographs?

A: No. Vehicles should stop only at designated rest facilities or during a genuine emergency. Stopping on the carriageway or shoulder for photographs can cause a serious collision.

Q: What should be done after a tyre burst or vehicle breakdown?

A: Move the vehicle completely onto the hard shoulder where possible, switch on the hazard lights and place a warning triangle behind the vehicle. Passengers should remain away from moving traffic and contact the expressway control room for assistance.
