Shambhu Toll Plaza Rates
The following rates are applicable from July 14, 2026, to March 31, 2027.
| Vehicle category | Single journey | Return journey | Monthly pass |
| Car, jeep or van | ₹125 | ₹190 | ₹4,205 |
| Light commercial vehicle or minibus | ₹205 | ₹305 | ₹6,795 |
| Bus or two-axle truck | ₹425 | ₹640 | ₹14,240 |
| Commercial vehicle with up to three axles | ₹465 | ₹700 | ₹15,535 |
| Four-to-six-axle vehicle | ₹670 | ₹1,005 | ₹22,330 |
| Heavy construction or earth-moving equipment | ₹670 | ₹1,005 | ₹22,330 |
| Vehicle with seven or more axles | ₹815 | ₹1,225 | ₹27,185 |
A car, jeep or van pays ₹125 for a single crossing. The return-journey charge is ₹190 when the outward and return crossings are completed within the permitted 24-hour period.
The standard monthly pass for a car, jeep or van costs ₹4,205. This is different from the concessional local monthly pass offered to eligible residents living close to the plaza.
Single and Return-Journey Charges Explained
The ₹125 car charge applies to one crossing through Shambhu Toll Plaza.
The ₹190 return rate covers an eligible outward and return journey through the same plaza. It does not mean that ₹190 is charged separately in each direction.
For example, a car travelling from Ambala towards Rajpura and returning through Shambhu Toll Plaza within 24 hours may pay ₹190 in total instead of two separate ₹125 charges.
The same active FASTag should be used for both crossings. The system records the first transaction and normally adjusts the discounted return amount during the second crossing.
A vehicle returning after the permitted time may be charged another single-journey toll. Drivers should retain both FASTag transaction messages until the return journey is complete.
Local Commercial Vehicle Rates
Reduced rates may apply to qualifying commercial vehicles registered in the district where the toll plaza is located.
| Vehicle category | Local commercial rate |
| Car, jeep or van | ₹65 |
| Light commercial vehicle or minibus | ₹100 |
| Bus or two-axle truck | ₹215 |
| Commercial vehicle with up to three axles | ₹235 |
| Four-to-six-axle vehicle | ₹335 |
| Heavy construction or earth-moving equipment | ₹335 |
| Vehicle with seven or more axles | ₹410 |
An Ambala district registration number may not be enough by itself. The toll administration may ask for the vehicle registration certificate, commercial permit, address proof and documents establishing that the vehicle qualifies under the local-use rules.
The concession should not be assumed to apply automatically. Vehicle owners should obtain approval from the toll office.
Local Resident Monthly Pass
An eligible resident living within 20 kilometres of Shambhu Toll Plaza may apply for a concessional monthly pass for a privately owned, non-commercial car, jeep or van.
The local monthly-pass charge for the 2026–27 financial year is:
₹360 per month
Applicants may be required to provide:
- Vehicle registration certificate
- Aadhaar card or another identity document
- Current residential-address proof
- Active FASTag linked to the vehicle
- Registered mobile number
- Recent photograph
- Completed local-pass application
The concession is linked to a specific resident, vehicle and FASTag. Merely owning a vehicle registered in Ambala district does not automatically activate the pass.

FASTag and Payment Information
FASTag is the standard payment method at Shambhu Toll Plaza. Before travelling, drivers should ensure that the tag:
- Is active and has sufficient balance
- Is fixed correctly to the windscreen
- Is linked to the correct vehicle registration number
- Shows the correct vehicle category
- Has completed the required KYC
- Is not damaged, suspended or blacklisted
Maintain enough distance from the vehicle ahead while entering the toll lane. This helps the scanner identify each FASTag separately.
Check the transaction message after crossing. An incorrect deduction can be reported to the FASTag-issuing bank or through the National Highway helpline.
FASTag Annual Pass
Eligible privately registered, non-commercial cars, jeeps and vans may use the NHAI FASTag Annual Pass at approved National Highway and National Expressway fee plazas.
The pass costs ₹3,075 for the 2026–27 financial year. It remains valid for one year or 200 toll-plaza crossings, whichever is completed first.
Each one-way passage through Shambhu Toll Plaza normally counts as one crossing. Passing through the plaza and returning through it usually counts as two crossings.
Drivers should confirm that Ghaggar Fee Plaza appears in the eligible-plaza list before purchasing the pass. The pass is activated on the vehicle’s existing FASTag and cannot be transferred to another vehicle.
Highway Facilities and Emergency Contacts
The toll-plaza listing includes a weighbridge and 12 truck lay-bys along the associated highway section. A dedicated public rest area is not listed directly at the plaza.

Traffic and Safety Tips
Shambhu Toll Plaza can experience heavy traffic during weekends, public holidays, festival seasons and peak interstate travel hours.
The Shambhu border has also experienced temporary traffic restrictions during demonstrations and security arrangements. Travellers should check current police or highway advisories before leaving, particularly when a protest march has been announced.
Choose the correct toll lane early and avoid sudden lane changes. Maintain additional distance from buses and heavy trucks.
Winter fog can significantly reduce visibility on NH 44. During monsoon rain, reduce speed and allow extra braking distance.
